Phillips
Law Group, PLLC ("PLG") is a dynamic and versatile civil litigation law firm.
It specializes in complex commercial litigation, having extensive experience in
class actions, antitrust, franchise litigation, products liability, consumer
protection, environmental, real and intellectual property, employment, and
insurance coverage litigation for national and regional clients, as well as
estate and tax planning. Its lawyers are seasoned litigators, experienced in
federal and state trial courts, appellate courts, administrative proceedings and
arbitration and mediation settings. They are also dedicated to pro bono
work, representing many deserving clients at no cost. The lawyers at PLG
perform outstanding legal work, achieve excellent results, and provide
exceptional service—all in an efficient and cost-effective way.
PLG
recently won an antitrust bid-rigging case for a Fortune 500 company; defeated
class certification in representing a Fortune 500 company in a Consumer
Protection Act case; won a Consumer Protection Act jury trial representing
plaintiffs against a large realty company; won a personal injury case of first
impression in the State of Washington, also in defense of a Fortune 500 company;
successfully resolved two consumer class actions brought against Fortune 500
companies in the state of Washington; won an arbitration for a large
telecommunications company; and settled a complex arbitration on behalf of a
professional sports organization. PLG has pioneered class litigation on behalf
of hospital patients, having negotiated the first two judicially-approved class
action settlements against hospital systems on behalf of uninsured patients, and
obtaining the first class action settlement on behalf of patients subjected to
excessive hospital facility charges when treated at hospital-based outpatient
clinics.
In the
past, our lawyers have spearheaded the defense of the tobacco industry in state
Attorney General suits brought in a number of Western states; won federal class
actions by third-party payers seeking to recover billions from the tobacco
industry; managed the national defense of similar suits filed by Indian tribes
throughout the United States, leading to dismissal of all those suits in
federal, state and tribal courts throughout the country; and obtained summary
judgment, affirmed on appeal, on a $4.6 billion damages claim brought by the
Republic of the Marshall Islands against American tobacco companies. They have
negotiated settlement of multi-state class actions regarding roofing products,
food products, and other consumer goods, and they defended the largest class
action (class of 20,000) in the State of Washington involving claims for
property damage, nuisance and medical monitoring related to living in the
vicinity of a former copper smelter.
Because
we believe the costs of serving our clients should be transparent, we refuse to
tack on multiple invisible billing units. We believe case staffing should never
be deeper than necessary to produce excellent work, and that the costs of
litigation should never be profit centers in their own right. Through technology
and the outsourcing of document management, we have the ability and resources to
represent large companies in complex, document-intensive matters. We are highly
capable, veteran lawyers with the knowledge and experience to clearly assess
litigation risks and the skill to try cases when there is no adequate
alternative. |
